The project is currently in the early stages of development, where technical, environmental, and grid-related conditions are being assessed to establish a sustainable and efficient energy storage facility. The location offers promising conditions for battery storage and is strategically situated in a region where the need for grid flexibility and energy system support is expected to increase in the coming years.
The project will strengthen the regional electricity network and contribute to a more resilient energy system. By storing electricity when generation exceeds demand and supplying energy during periods of higher consumption, the battery storage facility will help balance the grid, reduce peak loads, and improve the conditions for connecting new renewable energy generation.
The Naum battery energy storage system will also be capable of providing important ancillary services, including frequency regulation and grid support, which contribute to improved system reliability and stability. Large-scale energy storage is becoming an increasingly important component of the energy transition, enabling a higher share of variable renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power while enhancing the flexibility of the electricity system.
Through the Naum project, we aim to create modern energy infrastructure that supports both regional development and Sweden’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future. The project is being developed in close dialogue with landowners, authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure a responsible, transparent, and long-term sustainable development process.
